Reserve Your Place

For decades, there has been a waitlist — the backlog — for boots, handmade in Intervale. The current wait is approximately a year and a half. Every pair, whether fully custom or our Bench-Made boots, requires a place on this same backlog. Your spot in line is secured with a nonrefundable $100 deposit (applied to the final cost)..

The Backlog & Pricing

The wait has always been part of the Limmer tradition. We keep production small and hands-on, which means every pair is built by a craftsperson who expects to see that boot again years later for resoling or care. We could speed things up by hiring a large team or pricing these like a luxury product, but we choose not to. Keeping the backlog allows us to keep the price grounded in craftsmanship — not in markup.

Our custom boot pricing starts around $1,500. Each pair is built on a fully bespoke last, shaped precisely to your individual measurements — ensuring a fit that’s unique to you. 

Final pricing may vary depending on several factors, including participation in a regional fitting event, accommodations for custom/ orthopedic inserts, specific build requirements, and fluctuations in material costs.

Benchmade Alternative

We know that not everyone needs a fully custom last to enjoy the Peter Limmer & Sons experience. With our Bench-Made Alternative, you’ll receive a boot handmade in our Intervale, New Hampshire workshop—crafted with the same premium materials and time-honored techniques.

Each pair is built on the Peter Limmer & Sons 2017 last, available in three widths, known for its snug heel and roomy toe box that echoes the comfort and support of our custom designs.

Starting at $850, you can choose between our original Limmer Standard boot or the Midweight version with a single-layer midsole. If you’d like to customize materials or features, additional options are available at an extra cost.

And just like with our fully custom boots, we insist on meeting in person, so that we can determine your size, learn about your usage, your needs, and where you’ll be hiking, to ensure you get a boot that truly fits your lifestyle. These boots share the same care and craftsmanship (and waitlist) as our custom-fit builds, giving you the full Limmer experience—and a genuine connection to our legacy.

The Process

When your name reaches the top of the backlog, you’ll receive a letter in the mail stating that your time has come. From there, you will have 30 days to schedule your fitting. During your visit, we take final measurements and tracings, discuss use and terrain, review any special requirements, and collect final payment. If you’re unable to visit within 30 days, you may hold your spot for an additional year with a follow-up deposit.

Fitting in Intervale, NH — or at a Regional Event

To ensure a true Limmer fit, we strongly recommend visiting our shop in Intervale, New Hampshire — 1.5 hours from Portland, ME and about 3 hours from Boston, MA. The White Mountains have been part of the Limmer story since 1950, and we invite you to experience that history when you visit.

If travel isn’t possible, you may also attend one of our Regional Fitting Events held in select cities.

Guarantee of Fit

If we meet with you in person, we guarantee the fit of your boots. For clients using self-taken measurements, we will work closely with you throughout the build, but please note that we cannot guarantee fit without an in-person fitting.

Deposit Terms

The $100 deposit is applied to the cost of your custom boots and is nonrefundable and nontransferable. If purchasing as a gift, please contact us with the recipient’s name at the time of reservation.
